Favorite Youtube Channels

90% of Youtube is crap. That is a hard fact to swallow especially if you’ve subscribed to a bunch of rad Youtube channels and all you see is the good ones. Then once in a while, you log out of your G+ account and all you can see is “Minecraft Let’s Play #N”. You curse at yourself and wonder why you’ve been wasting your time on this website. Luckily, I’ve gathered some of my favorite Youtube channels that I take for granted so that you won’t have to sit through PewDiepie’s trillion subscribers tributes ever again or you can have some material when you’re having nothing to do.

Vsauce

A quintessential whenever a Youtube-related discussion comes up. Vsauce is kind of a starter pack for you to get started in the intellectual stimuli addiction. The channel covers everything from what color a mirror is to why we wear clothes to how the Earth moves by explaining mind-blowing facts in layman’s terms. Great for binge-watching under your comfy blanket. Also, Michael Steven’s beard is cool.

The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows

I recently found out about this channel through of course, Vsauce. The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows’ name is self-explanatory, although all of the words in the “dictionary” are made up, deep down it touches your true feelings about the world and about yourself. I learned that “zenosyne” means “the sense that time keeps going faster”, but I didn’t really GET it until I watched TDfOS’ video.

exurb1a

Watch it if you want shit explained to you in a quirky and hipster manner.

yeti dynamics

Great for when you have nothing to do on the weekend looking up the sky just to wonder if other planets in our solar system replaced the moon.Or a giant fucking banana had the same distance as the ISS. Bizarre yet fascinating.

Every Frame A Painting/Now You See It/CineFix/Anything Video-Essay related

Take your pick. Depended on your taste, each of these guys will change the way you go the movies forever; that is if you don’t already have a film degree. Otherwise, they’re interesting as hell and worth a watch.

Wendover Productions

Like your average favorite layman science videos, but this time actually getting into details about the information you wish to know. Now I get why plane tickets are so expensive and why college is so costly. Pro-tip: It’s all bull.

TED

Also a quintessential. TED stands for Technology – Entertainment – Design. And boy does it live up to its name. And you get all of that shit without paying a single dime. TED(x) Talks arguably shape how we see presentations and how to give presentations. Apparently, you pay up to $14,000 just to attend a TED Talk. I bet it’s worth it, though. I would be sad if it weren’t.
